Tamworth NSW Australia | Thanks for your interest. I love to see pics of everyones farming operation as well, and usually leads to as many questions as they answer.
Sorghum yield in a "normal" year is about 6t/ha, varying from 3.5 to 7.5t/ha depending on rain. Sorry I cant convert to bushels per acre, maybe someone with more experience can. Most of our summer rain falls in storms so it can be feast or famine for the crop. Stored soil moisture is vital and its common to grow most of the season on soil moisture while the thunderstorms roll straight past. Sorghum is planted here late october and harvested around march/april.
The seed tender truck is a Dodge 600, 318V8 petrol. Dad bought new in 1974 I think. A1 condition still but no longer road registered, carries the grouper and is a backup truck at harvest. See Mikes reply above (Thanks Mike).
Jeff, the only silly questions are those not asked. I think all the tractors and harvesters now come from the big brands (case, jd, agco) but still plenty of planters, airseeders, cultivating gear, augers, bins made in Aus. The planter and airseeder in the photo are Aussie made, the boomspray has an Italian boom but chassis made and plumbed and assembled in Australia.
Im not using GPS as yet but questioning my sanity as to why not. Planting between last years rows while keeping an eye out the back window gets tiring, especially at night.
