Rivers, MB
I would echo many of the comments above but will add a bit.

My dad was diagnosed with cancer 6 years ago. After radiation and chemo, he is now cancer free. So far. What I did experience was that during his treatments, he was not his usual self. He is normally very supportive and encouraging but during his treatments, he became hard to be around. fixated on meaningless details at the farm. It was hard enough to take over all the details of managing the farm (I was 27 at the time and already doing a fair bit of the management but that went to 100% that fall and winter) without dealing with dad's moods. However, as we looked back later, we realized that it was the chemo and meds doing it and that dad didn't have control over that.

I'm guessing that you are in your 30's, at least by your dad's age. Hopefully, you have done much farm succession planning and management handover so that transition does not add additional stress to you while you deal with your dad's illness. harvest can be a stressful time, even without dealing with illness. Make sure to take time off when you can, spending it with your family and with your dad and lean on your Creator for support. Wish you well and keep us posted.
