Off topic here, when I was taking low level geography classes, we had to identify parcels of land by TRS numbers. Kind of funny to see all the townies scratch their heads figuring out "the east half of the northwest quarter of the southwest quarter" (20 acres, right?) On interesting thing I did learn about the starting point. Every 6 miles a new township/range starts. So by multiplying 110 N by 6 and 28 W by 6 puts the starting point for our particular survey 660 miles south of me and 168 miles east of here. Here are a few links to some reading.
