Subject: RE: The Boy

Mascoutah, Illinois
We have been below normal with temperatures in the St. Louis area. The weatherman says we are headed for the fifth coolest July on record. We had 93 degrees yesterday which is our high for the month. The weatherman says summer will try and make a return sometime around the 8th of August. What return? I am still waiting for summer to start. Crops are extremely late here due to the excessive rains this spring. Beans were planted the last week of June and the first week of July. Beans are currently around a foot tall. Most corn will probably need to stay frost free until the last week of September or first week of October to make black layer. A few fields of corn are still two to three weeks away from pollination. An early frost in this area will be a major disaster.
