Subject: RE: They are very reactive rather than proactive

Leesburg, Ohio
............"they need to work issues before they become law/policy, rather than trying to change the laws after they go in effect........."

Anyone who has been even a little involved in FB could tell you that the organization does exactly that...it works on issues from all angles. Whoever told you FB only deals with existing laws doesn't have a clue.

As far as "a bunch of aimless people"...maybe there are some in your state or county FB. I suppose every organization has one or two. For the most part, at least in Ohio, there are alot of hard-working farmer-members, board members, and staff who do a good job at farming, and who are concerned about many issues that affect us all, and are dedicated enough to not only work long hours on the farm, but manage to get of their duffs and do something for themselves and our industry by volunteering more long hours learning about those issues, developing policy to deal with them, and communicating with our local, state, and national legislators, regulators, and administrators, as well as dealing with the media to try to present a good image of agriculture to the public.
