I don't know if they have changed the rules or not but I have taken some across without problem but they were purchased. They have never asked about taters. I think you may have a problem with homegrown ones though if caught. My guess is they don't want the dirt and potential diseases coming across. Taking meat labeled "not for sale" will be confiscated. Where you going?
