Yes it will expand.....my oil supplier tops off my drums in the winter and is suppose to leave room in the barrel but on one we were talking to much and got more then he wanted in it. Now that it has warmed up it ran over.......should have pulled a couple gallon out before it got that full but didn't think about it until the mess was made.
