The Mass Air Flow sensor is bolted onto the air filter box. If I remember right it is held on with 4 bolts on one side and a clamp on the other. Just take it out and you will see a small wire with what looks like a diode in it; this is what gets dirty and should be cleaned with some type of cleaner, like I said I use brake cleaner. What ever you use make sure it does NOT leave any residue! Or of course you can replace it. This wire/sensor is what measures the amount of air going into your engine, if the computer does not accurately know how much air is coming into the engine then it can not accurately adjust the air/fuel ratio. If it gets dirty it insulates the sensor from reading all the air going into the engine, so the computer thinks there is less air coming in then there actually is, thus making a lean Air/Fuel ratio = pinging. This is the easiest place to start.
