DE
I converted my 1560 to the 1590 boots with new blades last year and put boots in bottom hole. This year I put the boots in center hole. I found beans on top of the ground in both hole settings. I've been running the depth in the 3 and 3 slot and also in the 3 and 4 slot which according to the manaul is 1-1/2" and 1-3/4" depth. Sounds kinda deep for beans but any less and the boot is above the ground level.

I've come to the conclusion that these drills don't do well in barley or wheat straw. I use to plant with JD 7200 6 row with 5 row splitter. Had row cleaners on the 6 row but not on the splitter. Could tell BIG difference in heavy straw. Yetter does make cleaners for the deere drills. But at $260 a row times 24 rows= OUCH! Plus, how you would ever get in between the front and rear rows to do service work with the row cleaners on, I have no idea. I see some deere drills being replaced with the kinze twin line planters.
