Chilliwack BC | In BC when we buy new tires, we pay a recycling tax which covers the cost of grinding them and getting uses for the end products. I believe that most tires get recycled here. Some of the rubber does get burnt at cement plants.
Just that in order for them to be shredded they need to be whole tires, and the recyclers will not take the treads after we cut off the sidewalls...........................hence the dump. Very few get landfilled here. Alberta has a similar tire recyling program that I believe BC copied. Lots of rubber crumb gets used in cow mattresses. | |
