Marengo, Iowa | Nancy finally got in touch with the family that submitted the photos. They verified that it was a F30 and the picture was taken the spring of 1960. Their house was down a long dirt lane . The school age children would stand on the planks across the drawbar on the tractor in the top picture and their dad would haul them down to the main road to catch a school bus. The children would wrap plastic and raincoats around themselves to keep the mud off their school clothes. The boy in the picture was killed in a auto accident in 1970.
PS The first tractor I ever drove was a Regular Farmall that was my dads first tractor. It had a aftermarket cover over the steering gears. Some day, I'll have to scan a picture of my mother driving the Regular pulling a Case wire tie baler with my dad poking the wire thru the chamber and the hired help tying it.
