| There's just so many variables there. Seedbed condition, moisture(too much or too little) variability in the units setting, etc, etc, etc. FWIW, with all the rain and cold soils this year we pulled back to between 1"-1 1/4". I know, I know, that's too shallow, but it gets the corn up. Dig EVERY row, and make sure they're all set the same, don't depend on the gauges until you know for sure. Make sure the firmers are working and not worn out, and don't run excessive air pressure. Even with firmers you can blow seed around trying to run 11" of pressure. Cloddy seedbeds could cause what you're seeing. It's just pretty hard to say without seeing, and even then might be hard. | |
