| eddiedry is pretty close. You require approximately 5-8 hp/shank depending upon soil, depth and type of shovel. Also remember that you will lose about 40-60 hp between the flywheel and drawbar, if you are running an airseeder may be more depending on hydr. demand. An Australian gov site says you lose 40% of the engine flywheel hp by the time you get to the drawbar, I think thats a bit high. If I can find the site I will post it, it is very good and has lots of info on determining how much power to pull just about any type of implement. | |
