Ray and George are right...at least in Ohio (and apparently KS and FL) you cannot re-cap a casing that is older than about 6 or 7 years (can't remember exactly). I can't say that you would be parked by ODOT because of having older tires on the road, but our suppliers here won't re-cap them, or accept them for casing credit.

I would agree with putting two new, high-quality steer tires on the truck, and use your other good one on a trailer or wagon around the farm. I run good re-caps on the rears on a couple farm trucks, but not on the front, and not any axle over the road.
