| Personally I don't mess around with steer tires. I want good tires up there and I want them matched up well. When they get some wear we pull them off and trade the casings in. Around here they've started watching the dates on the casings and if they are too old they won't take them at all. DOT is also looking at the casing dates, tread matters, but if the casing is out of date you're parked.
IF and only if the other one is really good yet and the casing date is new enough would I look at putting another used one to match it on the other side. | |
