Subject: Re: Grain carts and loading on gravel roads (Iowa)

A few years ago, we wanted to cross (only cross) a state hiway with our Brent 750 bushel cart. I feared a ticket from a patrolling trooper. Called the Illinois State Police headquarters at Pesotum. The Sargent told me, "We don't worry about grain carts either on the roads or crossing them." I reminded him that my cart weighs over 50,000 ponds when loaded. He said, "We don't worry about grain carts either on the roads or crossing them." I asked my brother to get his badge number just in case, but he'd already hung up.

Still not sure I believe this...
