Seaford, Delaware
Dave,

Caterpillar requires a minimum of 900 parts per million (PPM) of zinc to reduce friction, prevent scuffing, and decrease wear. Zinc dialkyldithiophosphate possesses excellent thermal-oxidative and hydrolytic stability, while at the same time providing superior gear wear performance. The big push right now in the industry is to formulate with an anti-varnish additive to prevent oxidation which can lead to varnish build-up which can render servo-valves useless because they will start sticking.
