I bought one of these things off of Amazon a few months ago and it makes THE BEST coffee I have ever tasted. The problem with most coffee makers is they run too much hot water through the grounds for too long and you end up with bitterness. The Aeropress works much like a French Press like Hedge mentioned - you add hot water to the grounds and press it through within 20 seconds or so. It makes espresso - but you simply dilute with hot water to make regular coffee - smooth as silk. One press will dilute down to about 3 cups at the strength I like it. This unit is nothing more than a giant syringe with a small disk filter on the bottom. You measure your grounds, dump them in, add 170 deg. water, stir for 15 seconds, and press. Clean up is simple - you unscrew the bottom, force the "puck" out the bottom into the garbage, and rinse it off.
I also agree with others on here that grinding your own at home is best. Grind only enough for a couple of days at a time. Eight O'Clock is EXCELLENT coffee for a reasonable price. | |
