NW TN, Dyersburg | I went thru the same thing last yr with my JD 345. Never a hint of a problem till then, it acted like it had trash or a bit of water in the fuel. I took the tank off and cleaned it out very good, changed fuel filters twice, took the carb off several times and cleaned it with carb cleaner, even took it to the dealership and the tech soaked it overnight, put it back on and it ran smooth for the next couple of mowings, then started acting up again. The shop manager told me from the beginning that it would probably require a new carb to fix the problem, he said there are very small passageways built into the carb that you can NOT get to in order to clean. I didn't like the idea of spending $200 for a new carb when it seemed obvious there was a tiny bit of trash causing the problem... but he was right, that's what it took to fix it. | |
