Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois | We have gone to Nashville many times in our life, always wanted to stay at the Gaylord hotel and resort center on the Opryland grounds. It was always too expensive, currently the website says $300 per night. Last fall, I found a better deal with one of the online booking agencies, don't remember which one, as I have used several different ones. It was for at least half, if not more, of the posted price. We LOVED the experience of the hotel. It would be a fantastic honeymoon hotel, if you can afford it. The entire lobbies of the hotel is a large garden, with paths through it. It is spread over a large area, at least three gardens with rooms overlooking the trees and flowers. It takes a lot of walking to get to your room, but the experience is great. Had I known what it was, I would have paid full price in the past for the experience we had last fall. They have busses going to the big shopping center where Opryland amusement used to be, and free busses to opryland when it is open. We were going to ride the Jackson paddle boat, free bus there, but just ran out of time. You don't want to miss Ryman auditorium downtown, view the history of the Opry, and there are some fantastic eating places in printers alley. Music row has the musuem, and is an interesting place to walk and view the scenery. I haven't been to many of the local attractions like Twitty City (Conway Twitty) and other such dedicated fan sites, but once you get to Nashville, you will find them advertised. Earnest Tubbs music store is one of the attractions downtown, haven't been there for 25 years, but it used to be great. Just go, the whole town is filled with attractions advertised by brochures in the lobby of all motels, you will have no problem finding something to do. |
