You said the auctioneer "weasled" (weaseled) it up to $12000 from $7800 - I guess you are saying he should have declared Sold at $7800? How would the seller have felt about that? (Apparently somebody else thought it was worth $11900.) Should you have a sale some day, will you want 53% more (4200/7800 = 53%) or will you instruct the auctioneer to stop at 47% of fair value?
