reminds me of an old anecdote I´ve read.
An old russian farmer fords a river with his ox team. His neighbour uses the bridge aside. It collapses.
The old farmer shakes his head, proceeds on his way and says: " He sees: a bridge. But no, he HAS to cross it..."
