Break down time during planting is or can be very expensive in crop yield, if it cost days to get the crop planted. Some years the window of opportunity can be small.

Now I am a smaller farmer. I go through my planter and will keep it the next 12 years until retirement.

There are also electrical break downs that are the cause of time that can not necessarily be replaced in advance that may be costly.

There are some, maybe minor, advances in design in a newer planter.

Bulk fill seed tanks that were not available before.

The list could go on and on.
