Subject: RE: Can't keep bearings in Sunflower disc ripper

Mc Crory, AR.
I have a sunflower disk and have had the same problems. I have tried greasing everyday till it runs out, and every other day with two pumps nothing worked. I talked to sunflower they said the bearing is not designed for side torque. That when you put bearings in loosen the gang hangers and bounce it on the ground then re tighten the gange. This allows them to come back into line with the new bearings, and release all side pressure.

Guess what? I did that and still had bearing problems. I welded a three bolt plat onto the bearing hanger and used a ST 491 bearing ( IH disk bearing) 1/2 the price, and no more trouble.
