Don't waste your time go for the Accuracy of a paid subscription or RTK. I used a paid subscription in 2005 and I got to rely on it being accurate. In 2006 I went to RTK and it was another big improvement being able to turn the receiver on and have full 1 inch accuracy in a minute or 2. I use trimble equipment but the same would be for JD. You have allot invested in the mechanical part of the Auto steer system you might as well use a good GPS correction signal to make full use of it. Life is allot simpler if you do not have to worry how far off you GPS signal has drifted.
