S.W. Mn. | Have a 555, and 555D, on the operator platform there are two plates, front, rear, two bolts, remove, can be under floor mat, this leads to nut, wrench off, this is the top of the dipstick, one for torque converter, other for transmission, this is where you add fluids. We run multi grade( JD 303, in both compartments. Have never had a problem. Also run straight 20 wt. NON detergent oil in hydraulic system, preserves the cylinder seals as the multy oils are hard on seals. Depending on some units,(the D doesn't do this) sometimes one has to idle, shift reverser lever back and forth, to "catch" transmission gears. We find the 555 is easy to work on, have all the manuals for them, first thing, remove fuel tank, gets you into converter area, easiest way is to pressure drain tank, lift straight up. A WORD OF CAUTION, SHOP MANUALS ONLY HAVE A ONE SENTANCE ON PIVIOTING OVER FRONT AXEL, YOU MUST BUILD a jig, using the removed front weight bolt holes so the engine , radiator, hydraulic pump, etc. DOES NOT PIVOT FORWARD OVER FRONT AXEL, I CAME WITHIN A FEW INCHES OF LOOSING A FOOT WHEN IT HAPPENED, JUST BE CAUTIOUS IF YOU NEED TO SPLIT UNIT AT SOME TIME. Best Regards. | |
