Penobsquis, New Brunswick, Canada | last night on the local news, the broadcaster interviewed an airport runway maintenance person, about using a snow sweeper to clean the eathworms off the runway....seems the worms were headed for drier ground with all the rain we been having. apparently they are getting windrows of worms at the airport.
my question....where do the worms go when the fields are so wet ....i.e. saturation point....and it is cold out....we will have -10 C ( 14F) next week....will they lay on top, then freeze and that's it....does all this wet weather combined with cold temps cause a vast decrease in the earthworm population......this situation has me thinking about my worms.
any comments
thanks
