scky | Get a goose-neck, better pulling, better balance, and easier on the truck. I have not seen an aluminum small equipment trailer. I pull goose-necks with an extended-cab with tool box with no problem. I have found that a piece of 2in pvc about 24in long sticking onto the ball will direct you straight to the neck using the rear-view mirror, you just back up using the mirror until the neck pushes it off and stop, after a few times you will be able to stop directly over the ball.
The tail wagging the dog effect happened to a neighbor with a bumper-hitch stock trailer, the calves he was hauling got the cut-gate open and went to the back of the trailer got the truck off the road and wrecked him, killing a couple of calves and scaring the others so bad it took a week to round them up.
I know equipment will not crowd to the back, but you will have to load the back of the truck to heavy to insure traction. | |
