Eastern Arkansas | I know this sounds like a terrible home brew idea, but what if you permantly attached the hub with studs to the shaft. You could use a straight shaft setup like you already have to line everything up then drill holes through the shaft part of the hub and plug weld them in with a tig welder to keep heat down.
If it's not a very expensive setup to begin with this might be a lot cheaper and easier than custom machined parts.
