Le Sueur VIA St.Thomas | Thanks for the ideas, I do have a similar setup with a straight shaft- In my situation, a drive wheel is directly attached to the motor. While simple, all the torque is transferred to the key (17mm shaft, 6mm keyway) There is a fair amount of torque in my application (more than usual). If there is enough slop to remove the hub(wheel) when needed, that slop starts wearing out the key. If it's a nice snug fit, it becomes hard to remove, which is the issue I'm trying to resolve. Ideally, I would have a hub with studs permanently attached to the motors and the drive wheel would attach to the studs. The tapered shaft option seems perfect if I can find someone wanting to sell me a hub. If only it was that easy.... good luck -jim |
