We build our own "field dollies" to pull semi trailers behind farm tractors. It's just a trailer axel with either regular duals or super singles depending if we need clearance for the crop. And a simple 4 link hitch made from 2x2 square tubing.
As far as releasing the brakes we do not use a compressor but release the air out of the air tank on the trailer. Most of the semi trailers built or used for harvest use have a vent line plumbed to the rear or the trailer just for this purpose.
