West Tennessee | If you feel that the machines should be cleaned between each farm then I'd do one of two things. I'd hire someone who does that religiously, or I'd specify that I wanted that done and to what degree before I hired them. Are you being an a**? Probably not. More picky than others? Probably, but that's your business, you're the one paying for the harvesting. Cleaning the machines between farms isn't done in my area, or let's just say I don't know anyone who does it. That doesn't mean it's not standard practice everywhere else. Remember, the customer's always right.
BTW. You mean there are farms without Johnsongrass? I'll have to visit sometime. Never saw one of those either. :-)
