Brassring has the best procedure, was what I did for cables instead of crimping.  I don't think I ever had a crimped fitting that did not fail, including factory crimps, not just mine.  All crimps are just a problem waiting to manifest itself.   When at all possible, I much prefer solder joints.  I consider crimps to be like using baleing wire, works until you can have time and materials to do it right and solder it.  Brassring was also correct, I keep resin core solder for electrical joints, acid core is only for metal to metal connections. And, I am very skill inadequate when using solder, even though I have used a lot of it.
