Hagen Brothers farms,Goodrich ND | Thats an interesting seal improver kit.. I had no more trouble with the stock seals after I lubed them with JD polyurea grease.
Make sure the little wear ring in the wheel is smooth and free of wear or corrosion, then clean/wash the seal well in the area between the lips. Fill the grooves between the lips with polyurea grease, and put a generous layer of grease on the lip area of the seal and coat the replacable wear ring.
After doing this my seal/bearing troubles ended. I remove the wheels, clean and repack the seals every 4 seasons. I usually find that dirt has only penetrated beyond the first seal lip and the rest looks excellent. I only replace a seal when that outer lip shows considerable wear. I found that seals installed without lube would fail in 1 or 2 seasons or less ,and not much better if lubed with anything but the polyurea grease. |
