The trick Ron is leave the stalks HIGH. That allows them to be pushed over as Jim states, rather than poking into the tire first.

I get more tire damage from my bean stubble on the combine than I do from the corn stalks. The rubber on the tires inbetween the lugs look like golf balls, they are dimpled that much.
