When your spending $1000/acre to produce a crop another tillage pass really dosen't amount to much. You also have to realize that some of the crops we are growing are valuable enough that the extra production way more than pays for the tillage. Out here in the irrigated west tillage is one of the smaller input costs. We alos recieve a lot more for our corn than you do. I sell high moisture corn to the feed lot for 30 cents over the cbot price and they do all the storage. Even with over 250 bu yields corn is still just a rotation crop. For us the extra production nets more. Having said all that I have been able to make notill corn work ut thats the only crop. We will never be able to notill any crop folowing corn. Just too many stalks to deal with.
