Decaturville TN | Hey Tn Farmer I had 5 varieties this year. I have gone to all group 4's as they seem to be more consistant in yield for me. My favorite this year was Asgrow 4903. That is what was planted on the field by the golf course you saw this summer. That field averaged 62.5 bushels as did pretty much every field planted in 4903 that I had. I had other varieties that yielded as well but were harder to cut. My whole bean crop averaged 55 bu/acre. I had quite a bit of sudden death in every variety and a UT expert said my yields were cut probably 15% when he looked at them in September. Kinda hard to switch varieties when they made that much though. Now if I had just contracted them at 15 bucks. But I just wasn't that smart. I am storing most of them waiting on $6. LOL | |
