Subject: Re: Plowmans Folly

Malheur County Oregon

For almost any root or seed crop that follows corn or wheat in this area that is rill irrigated gets.
1. Shredded
2. 2-3 times over with the disk.
3. If wheat. Re furrowed and watered
4. If wheat disked again.
5. Deep ripped.
6. Plowed.
7. Roller harrowed twice and fertilized along with a possible fumigation application.
8 Bedded or ridged up till spring.
9. Come spring time. 2 times with bed harrow.
10. Planted.

I guess we are all a bunch of damn nimrods because we waste diesel according to you. Well maybe we do burn the fuel but we also can out yield nearly any other area in the country.
What state has the highest spud and corn yields?.... Washington
What state has the highest onion yields?...... Eastern Ore and western Idaho.
What area of the country has the highest small grain and sugar beet yields?........ The west.

Plowing also happens to a. bury residue to stop volunteer crops from spreading disease or b. chemical residue issues

Nothing P.Os me more than someone who has no clue telling me how I do things wrong.

Rant endedFrown  Gee first time I ever got fuzzed up over one of these stupid tillage debates. I normally laugh at all these.
