nw pa | strange you should ask. Was just getting ready to post the results of that escapade. We harvested it about a week ago, felt wierd combining it when 20 percent of the buckwheat had green seeds but did it anyway so that the good stuff wouldn't be lost. Put it all in the drying bin and slowly drying it down. Yielded around thirty bu. per ac. Which wasn't bad. Don't know for sure as we haven't weighed it or had it cleaned yet. Once the buckwheat was in the bin the green seed slowly turned a nice dark color. Was kinda surprised at that. It now looks like buckwheat should. Also it is easy to combine, although it looked green across the field. Hopefully @6 to 7 dollars a bu. it will pay close to 200 hundred and ac. not bad for an extra crop. Will let you know when it's all said and done the final results. Never did see where the bear sh-- in the buckwheat though.
Number of things would have made it better. Taking the straw off would help it come through. Doing a good job of combining the wheat helps also, we had to turn the wind up to blow out small kernals of wheat do to shriveled grain and not wanting dockage. Once we sprayed it with round-up the wheat that blew out was able to grow.
