Little River, TX | put down 140 and they want 160 then 180, you run in damp conditions and then they want to run in sopping wet conditions
Then you run into a grass hay farmer on heavy clay, who currently puts out 500 lbs/A AA and can visualize 1,000 lbs/A if the price ever gets back down.
Here in CenTex, when cotton was king, terraces were put in on the contour, mostly to keep the water behind the terrace. Here the rational for a terrace was as much to retain the rain water as to prevent gully building.
Remember also, most terraces, here, were built in the days of 2 up to 4 row planters. Point rows were a pain then but nothing like they are now. So here, now most row crops are planted in straight rows, over the terraces where ever they may be. | |
