Central MN | Sandy, low table flat ground near by (river bottom) all owned by larger outfit that rotates Corn and Spuds and Beans. Every spring clouds and clouds of dust blow from these fields. These fields are made black in fall and smooth. I bet you couldn't find a single piece of residue. Then, all summer long they still "rec till". The headlands are disked down and the field corners (not under irrigation pivot) are tilled and kept black all summer. Looks nice and neat but what a waste. Couple of non-farm types I know comment on "wow, what a good farmer, look how neat his fields look" I tell them they're the worst farmers in the county. I don't care if you're no-till, strip-till, min-till, conservation-till, conventional-till, or WHAT, this is just stupid. They have a big fleet of tractors sitting around and employees with nothing to do so they send them out to work the soil (whats still left of it anyway).
