Martinsville, Ohio | Good post. The big thing to me is notill is one ton of soil loss per acre and conventional is 8 tons.
I can barely afford the one ton loss.
Notill isn't a church or a religion, it is another way to answer farm problems we all face. If we are guilty of making it sound like it is a religion, we are a poor teacher. You just drive people away.
Paul Reed says speak with your fields. We have both gained a lot more respect by trying to adhere to that.
Got a good friend just town the road with gullies forming on his flat continuous notill. I know he needs a cover crop but I know I can't change his ways. I did pretty good with his boys in school but they went off to apply their knowledge in other careers.
Those offers to NNTC are still open and yes there will be many there who till to extent or another. One pass planting is still tillage, it isn't direct seeding like some of our worldwide visitors do.
