All tillage around here, wet & cold.

Folks went to rippers of one sort 5-10 years ago. Then they would chop, disk, and rip the field.

Then 3 years ago the plows came back. Now in this tough year, the stalk choppers and plowing is common.

I just _hate_ making 2 trips over the field in fall. I might end up chopping the stalks in the peat ground areas, but hope the frozen mornings gets me through the plowing of the standing stalks.

Neighbor was chopping & ripping the stalks a week ago. Now that it snowed, rained, & froze before he could finisih combining, he is diskling & ripping the rest of the field. I don't imagine chopping frozen stocks is fun - never tried.

Saw one fella plow his bean stubble this fall. Hadn't seen that in a long time.
