Chesley, Ontario | The problems I have seen with wheat after sod have been no-till into a heavy grass stand. The Quack-grass is a host for take-all, plus there was some allelopathic effect from the wheat seed sitting in a mat of decaying grass roots. You could almost map last year's quackgrass pressure the next spring by the areas of poor wheat. Fungicides probably won't help. If it works, you should have a great crop...if it doesn't, well, nothing ventured, nothing gained! | |
