north central Oklahoma | Ditto on what NEIndiana said. Verify and re-verify that they got that colostrum from their mom's, and not that imitation stuff. BTDT, It ain't pretty. One other thing I found to help a lot was to keep each calf in it's own pen early in life. Putting them together invites spreading to others whatever one calf comes down with, then there is mulitiples of problems. One runny nose at a time is all you want. It's been a while, but it seems like I waited until second week before I started pushing sweet feed in their mouth to try to get them on feed while bottling too. the transistion worked better than to just pull milk off and expect them to go on feed right away.
