Subject: Saying the Truth is not Bragging.

Little River, TX
Having local research is always a help. There are three good research facilities in our Texas Blacklands that are a tremendous help to us. Our Land Grant College, Tx A&M U is only 80 miles east of us but they are in a different world. A number of their Universal Truths just do not apply in the Blacklands.

The Fertilizer Handbook is a handy little reference, but I have found it does not always address a clay soil and seldom addresses a calcareous clay soil.

Keith has been a help to me on numerous occasions. That is not to say a Text written mostly with the North Eastern soils and climate in mind will directly apply to our soils and climate.

In fact I have found most text books are a good introduction to agronomy but are too general to be a good fit for a number of the soils I have seen in my travels. The collection of papers published in popular format comes close. I do miss the Journal of Production Agriculture put out by ASA.

None of this detracts from your accomplishments. Congratulations.
