Chesley, Ontario | Both are good suggestions, Ernie, but if I can blow my own horn, I'll recommend the Soil Fertility Handbook, which includes a lot more of the hows and whys of fertilizer recommendations than the Fertilizer Handbooks. It has Ontario examples in it, 'cause that's where I live, but it is relevant to anyone in the corn belt and even into the great plains and the eastern seaboard (although it doesn't touch on sodic soils or acid subsoils...there's only so much we can fit between two covers).
The link to more information about the book is: http://www.omafra.gov.on.ca/english/crops/pub611/p611order.htm
The book is only $40 Canadian...which at current exchange rates is only about $32 US!
I was the lead editor on this book, but had lots of help from my colleagues, both in government and industry. Keith
