| I second the 52-43! It's the worst corn that we have planted in quite a few years, too!
I was "talked into" planting 52-43 vs the old 52-40 this year. 52-40 always did great for us, but this year the 43 is very very bad. It has small ears, low test weight, very very small kernels, and about 40 bu lower yields that adjacent fields.
I had some 51-39 in an adjacent field that was 40 bu higher (and that's a poorer farm).
The 53-18 and 17 is very poor on my farm, too. The 18 out yielded the 17 (vT3) by 5-10 bushels. Both were quite flat after a big gust of wind.....the competitor's corn across the road was still standing tall).
The Monsanto rep said it's only a problem in my area. It could be compounded by environmental factors....but I need a corn that will be more consistent across many growing conditions.
There's not going to be much DK corn on my farm in the future unless they have a big peace offering.
