Yes , he is going to hay with the checks. It is my understanding that he is planting Triticale this fall and then next summer it is going into some type of grass. I was going to go over and put in the checks with one of my tractors with gps so they would be spaced just right and be straight. The ground is so dry and loose that he has decided to wait until next spring or if he doesn't need to irrigate the Trit he will wait until it is cut and then run the checks once the ground has firmed up. I have never seen ground that is as much like flour as this is. Putting it in a check now would be like trying to make a snowball out of dry powder snow.
