Subject: need some advice about cattle ranching east of Dallas

My wife has family that recently purchased some grass land in the area of Greenville, Texas. They have it fenced and have water with the intent of putting some cattle on it. It is strictly a hobby farm so mama cows and calving would not be a good idea when they are an hour away at their day job.

I grew up backgrounding feeders, but I know enough to know that cattle and grass are totally different in Texas than they are in eastern Kansas.

Is there anyone in that area who would be interested in being a mentor to some city folk and try to keep them pointed in the right direction? Maybe offer some fatherly advice over breakfast or lunch some day? My email works or my cell is 913-208-4873.

Thanks,
Ray
